Was it a virus, or Just Another Hoax?
A Virus is a nasty piece of software designed to
secretly invade your computer and disrupt
or disable your system. They can be dangerous or
merely annoying. A Virus Alert Hoax is an email
that trys to pass itself off as a legitimate
warning, but is not true.
You may spend more time dealing with a hoax
than with the real thing.
But how can you tell them apart?
First, use common sense: Any legitimate warning
will NEVER tell you to 'forward this to as many
people as you can.' Second, if the alert sounds
as if it is saying
'if you even think about this, you will destroy
you computer,'it is a hoax.
For a virus to affect your system
you acually have to execute it.
Third, make sure thata knowledgeable person
sent the alert to you (your S. A. for instance),
some hoaxters try to soundofficial by including
a url for Microsoft or CNN, don't buy it!
